Praeceptor Abelard is the Head of Order of St Gertrude of Nivelles, a Monastic Order charged with providing shelter and accommodation to pilgrims to the Holy Land. He is known for his rabble-rousing speeches, whipping up crowds of the faithful, calling for an extension of the territories of the Crusader Kingdoms.

Eternity

'The Ordo Specialis', a text written in Jerusalem in 1194, not long after the Vanquishing of Satan, but no surviving copies exist after 1196.

… but following these events I have learned more of the Order of St. Gertrude of Nivelles, for behind its exterior, lay a great secret. The Ordo Specialis has acted across the Holy Land in attempts at the preservation of a peace and the eliminations of the enemies of peace. I have learned that the 'Praeceptor' Abelard is most surely the Grandmaster of the Ordo in secret, and even now seeks to continue the work of the Ordo in a new world…

From an missive sent to the Fortress of Mont St. George by the Grandmaster Abelard of the Ordo Specialis in the year of Our Lord 1196

We now proceed to the disappearing of the Ordo. We have been a known secret to some for several years now, and to protect the work of the Order, it must seem that we have disappeared - been destroyed. In enclose the plans for this process with this missive…

From an internal memo sent by the Vatican's Council of Peace on January 26th, 1834

The Pope will appoint a new Grandmaster for the Ordo Specialis, though I expect him to last longer than Grandmaster Raymond. The charters of the Order will no doubt be renewed, for they must continue to fight the agents of the Others with ever more dedication as we lock ourselves again in a war with the servants of War…

…may the sins that they accept upon their souls be forgiven by the Almighty Lord…

Report on the Berghoffen Incident by the German Imperial Special Service Captain Schwarzengold, September 2nd 1897.

… we have found evidence of a number of occult practices being performed within the village. From several volumes on the arts of summoning djinn and demons, to evidence of attempts at several of these rituals…

… several letters in the possession of one of the residents, a Markus Tolzmann, reveal connections to a network of some kind stretching to the Federal Crusader States and the Spanish Republic. I am concerned that this was perhaps a sect stretching not merely into 'pseudo-Satanic' activity, but also recognising a political agenda…

… further documents indicate a wide-ranging conspiracy at work, and it seems this sect must be implicated in the assassination of the Imperial ambassador two years ago in Jerusalem…

… can only come to the conclusion that the slaughter of this entire village was down to a third party, acting to bring down this cult. Since I have begun my investigation, I have noted resemblances in this method to a number of other incidents. They cannot have been accidental. Whoever these mysterious actors, and however dangerous they might be, they have provided the Imperial Government a great service.

Written, almost imperceptibly, on the wall of a building in Jerusalem not long after the outbreak of religious hostilities in 1932.
